Traffic Pattern Change – Huntsville Middle School

As part of our continued commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for our students, we are updating the traffic flow around Huntsville Middle School beginning when we return from Thanksgiving Break.

To help improve campus safety, School Drive (the road running through the HMS campus) will be closed to thru traffic during school hours.

All daytime traffic will now use Circle Drive on the right side of Middle School Hill. Vehicles will go up the hill, circle the HMS parking lot, and then return down the same side.

We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with the City of Huntsville, who helped prepare the area and support this safety improvement.

Please note:
- The road will be closed only during school hours
- After school, traffic will reopen and flow as normal

Thank you to our families, neighbors, and community for your understanding and support as we continue prioritizing student safety.

This week, the Huntsville School District and the City of Huntsville / Huntsville Police Department officially signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), approved by the Huntsville Board of Education, to add a third full-time School Resource Officer (SRO) to our district team.

We’re grateful for our continued partnership with the City of Huntsville and the Huntsville Police Department. Together, we’re committed to keeping our campuses safe, supportive, and student-focused environments where learning can thrive. 💙🦅⚜️

🛡️ School Safety Week at Huntsville School District

This week is School Safety Week across the Huntsville School District!

At HSD, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our top priority. Throughout the week, our schools are taking time to talk with students about a wide range of safety topics, including bus safety, fire safety, medical safety, firearm safety, and active assailant preparedness.

These conversations help students understand what to do in an emergency and build confidence in our shared commitment to a safe learning environment.

As part of School Safety Week, we will conduct an Active Assailant / Lockdown Drill on Thursday, October 23rd.
➡️ Please know this is only a drill — there is no cause for alarm.
Practicing these procedures ensures our students and staff know how to respond quickly and calmly in the unlikely event of an emergency. More info: bit.ly/4otz4qS

We appreciate our parents, guardians, and community members for continuing to support our efforts to keep HSD safe, prepared, and focused on what matters most — our students. 💛

🌟 Riding with Inspiration on Bus 50! 🌟 From the moment students climb aboard Mrs. Hobbs’ bus, they’re surrounded by color, encouragement, and love. 💛💜💙 She has transformed Bus 50 into a rolling space of positivity that is filled with cheerful polka dots and uplifting affirmations like “Anything is Possible,” “I am smart,” and “Today, did you smile?” Every ride is more than just a trip to school... it’s a daily reminder for kids to dream big, work hard, and believe in themselves. 🚍✨ Thank you, Mrs. Hobbs, for turning an ordinary bus ride into something extraordinary and inspiring our students every single day!!!💖 #StudentInspiration #DreamBig #HSDistheplacetobe
