🎅🏻 Sparkles was reading in the library today with glasses she borrowed from Santa Claus, himself! Sparkles loves to read and wants to remind everyone that the AR Reading goals are due tomorrow! 📚 Come to school tomorrow ready to take those AR Reading quizzes!

📚✨ Our students enjoyed a fun book tasting in the library this week—sampling different genres and discovering new favorites! A huge thank you to Mrs. Bolinger for creating such an engaging and welcoming space for our readers. We love seeing our students get excited about books! 📖💛

Our elf, Sparkles, loves jazz music! Sparkles found Mr. Skeleton playing Christmas tunes in the band room today! Students voted on their favorite Christmas song and “Jingle Bell Rock” won! 🎁 Congratulations to Jayden Rivas for being the stocking winner today!

🧦 Day 5 of our 12 Days of Christmas! Students showed off their most festive holiday socks today! Tomorrow is Winter Wonderland—wear your winter white! ❄️🤍

🎄 Sparkles had quite the adventure today! Our elf hitched a ride on Mrs. Downum’s back with a sign that said, “Don’t tell Mrs. Downum,” and the students were in on the secret all day long! While Mrs. Downum went about her day, Sparkles got a full behind-the-scenes tour of the school—classrooms, hallways, meetings, and more. The kids loved it, and Mrs. Downum didn’t find out until much later! 😄✨

🎶 HMS Choir Concert Tonight Our 6th grade music students joined our boys and girls middle school choirs for a great evening of music. Each group performed with confidence, and it was wonderful to see their hard work come together on stage. Thank you to Ms. Espinosa, our students, and families, for making tonight a success. It was a meaningful way to end the day and appreciate the talent in our building. 🎼

🎄 Sparkles Elf Alert! Our Day 4 winner is Mrs. Reeves! She always brings positivity to school, and her students adore her. Also today, several were dressed in blue for the 12 Days of Christmas—even though we didn’t get many pictures, the holiday spirit was definitely shining! ✨ Keep up the Christmas fun with school spirit!

Clubs were buzzing with energy today! 🎉 From sharpening strategy skills in board-game club, to dancing and walking our way through the afternoon in movement-based clubs, our students had so many chances to learn, connect, and have fun. We also loved seeing our FFA club spread kindness by creating Christmas cards for local nursing homes—such a thoughtful way to give back during the season. ❤️💌 So many smiles, so many memories… we love club days at HMS!

🎉 Learning Highlights From This Week! 🎉 We are excited to celebrate three classes who met their class goal in their disciplinary literacy focus! 🌟 ✨ Mrs. Prince’s 2nd & 5th Period Social Studies Classes These students showed strong understanding of comparing and contrasting how different authors write about the same topic. ✨ Mrs. Reeves’ 8th Period Social Studies Class This class made great progress in evaluating arguments—checking for logical reasoning, sufficient evidence, and spotting irrelevant information. We’re incredibly proud of the work happening in these classrooms and thrilled to see students meeting their goals and growing every day! 🎉📚

6th Grade HMS Student Council members partnered with Madison County Health Coalition to decorate an “I pledge to be drug-free” Christmas tree! We are proud of our scholars and thankful for our partnership with the Madison County Health Coalition!

📚 Professional Growth in Action! 📚 Throughout the summer and fall, several of our staff members participated in a book study of Carol Dweck’s Mindset. Today after school, they met to discuss, reflect, and compare notes on how to bring a growth mindset into their classrooms. We’re so grateful for HMS educators who never stop learning, reading, and striving for continuous improvement—for themselves and for their students. ❤️✨

🎄✨ Sprinkles the Elf — Day 3! ✨🎄 Sprinkles was caught having a popcorn party in the conference room today! 🍿😄 This elf definitely knows how to make herself at home! Congrats to our Day 3 drawing winner: Braden Cooper! 🎉

🎄 12 Days of Christmas: Grinch Day! 💚 HMS was glowing green today as everyone channeled their inner Grinch! Tomorrow’s theme: BLUE for Happy Hanukkah! 💙✨

🎶 Band Concert Night! 🎶 Tonight we celebrated our Beginning Band (6th–8th grade) and Beginning Guitar students—who just started playing in August and have already grown so much! We also loved hearing our Middle School Band, whose sound and progress make us so proud. Huge shout-out to Ms. Samantha Canon and Mr. Stittsworth for their dedication and high expectations. What an amazing night of music! 🎺✨

Day 2 of HMS Elf was full of tea! Sparkles landed in our school counselor’s office and spilled the tea about coping skills! ✨ Coping Skills are so important! Sparkles loves taking time to sip hot tea and relax! 🫖 Students had the opportunity to share their favorite coping skill and enter into a drawing for a goodie-filled stocking! Congratulations to Chloe Cook who was our drawing winner!! We wonder where Sparkles will land next! ✨

🎄❤️ Day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas at HMS! ❤️🎄 Today was Candy Cane Day, and our halls were filled with festive red & white from head to toe! Students and staff really brought the peppermint spirit!

🎁 Shoutout to the Huntsville Masonic Lodge for donating a huge variety of toys to Huntsville Middle School! HMS was able to share the love with Huntsville Intermediate and Watson Primary School because of this generosity! Our Math 6 team took this opportunity to provide a hands-on learning experience for our 6th graders! Each 6th grade student helped wrap a gift, while learning about surface area!! 📏📐
