Happy National Coaches Day! 🦅 Today we’re especially grateful for the coaches who call HMS home and pour their time, energy, and heart into our school and students. We appreciate each of you more than you know! We also want to recognize and thank all of the coaches who coach our HMS students, including those based at other campuses. Your time, leadership, encouragement, and investment in our kids make a difference, and we’re grateful for you, too! Thank you for being such an important part of our students’ lives and our school community. ❤️

Some of our students joined together this morning for See You at the Pole, a national event where students gather to pray and encourage one another. 🙏🦅 Thank You to Huntsville Baptist Church for bringing donuts and juice for our students. We’re thankful for our community and the people who show up for our kids! ❤️

Our Eagles had a great visit today with guest speaker Zeke Garcia, who talked with our students about the 5 Don’ts of Mental Health! 🦅💙 A great reminder that taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health. We appreciate Zeke taking the time to hang out with our students and share such an important message!

💙 Kindness Club with Mrs. Baldwin! Our HMS clubs give students a chance to connect, have fun, explore interests, and build relationships outside the classroom. Mrs. Baldwin’s Kindness Club is putting that purpose into action by using their creativity to make and share kindness messages throughout HMS! 🦅💙 We love seeing our Eagles spread a little kindness!

👩‍🏫 Last week, our 6th graders learned about careers in education, and this Friday they got to hear from the superintendents who lead our Huntsville School District, Jay Chalk, Ashley Fulmer, and Ben Hopper! We really appreciate them visiting with our students and share a little about their experiences in education. It was a great opportunity for our 6th graders to hear firsthand what it’s like to lead a school district! 🦅

🐄🐔 Career Exploration: Agriculture! This week, our 6th graders had the opportunity to hear from Elmer Robertson about his experience running a cow/calf operation and poultry farm. Elmer and Makenzie Robertson were the 2025 Madison County Farm Family of the Year through the Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation, making this a great opportunity for our students to learn from a local family with firsthand experience in agriculture. Students learned what it takes to manage a farm, the many career opportunities in agriculture, and the skills needed to be successful in the industry. We love helping students connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real careers and real people right here in our community! 🦅

🦅 Our VERY FIRST PBIS School Store was a HUGE success! 🎉 Our students had a great time using their Eagle Brags to celebrate positive behavior and make some fun choices at the store! A BIG thank-you to our community partners who help provide our store items, Mrs. Brown and Mr. Foster for bringing this vision to life, and all of our staff for recognizing and celebrating positive behavior. And most importantly, THANK YOU to our students for giving us so much great behavior to celebrate! ❤️🦅 We are already looking forward to the next store!

Today in Mrs. Prince’s class, students worked together to determine whether different exploration scenarios were motivated by God, Gold, or Glory! 🌎 Students highlighted key words and phrases in each scenario to find evidence and justify their thinking. Great collaboration, critical thinking, and history happening in the classroom! 🦅📚

🎣 Our Outdoor Education students took their learning outside this week and went fishing! They had a great time and, as you can see, they caught some fish! We love giving our Eagles opportunities to learn, explore, and make memories outside the classroom. 🎣

Students in Mrs. Napier’s class have been putting their reading and math skills to work in the kitchen! They’re reading recipes, measuring ingredients, following directions, and putting their skills to use through hands-on learning.

Today, they made brownies—and thankfully, they know that good brownies are even better when they’re shared! 😉🍫❤️

A big shoutout to Mr. Dickey and Ms. Schaefer for helping make today’s cooking happen! 👏 And a special shoutout to Christopher, pictured here sharing some of those delicious brownies! 🦅🍫

📚✏️ ELA Notebooks Are Ready!

Mrs. Mallory Watkins’ students recently personalized their ELA notebooks, giving them a space that is uniquely theirs for all of the learning, writing, and hard work ahead!

Today, our Career Exploration students had the opportunity to learn more about emergency services from members of the local fire department. Jeremy Shinn, Assistant Chief; Kristyn Clark-Shinn, Captain; Steve McGourty, Engineer; and Gabe Dasen, Firefighter, visited with our students and shared information about their roles in emergency services. Students learned about the different tools and equipment firefighters use, including the equipment carried on their firetrucks, and how those tools are used during emergency situations. We appreciate them taking the time to speak with our students and give them a hands-on look at another career pathway in emergency services!

Coach LaBahn's Career Exploration students had an exciting, hands-on opportunity to learn more about the nursing profession during Nurse Week! Students explored heart rate, blood pressure, and how blood flows through the heart—and even got to practice checking vital signs themselves. A special thank-you to Kelli Hafen, Kristyn Clark, and Virginia LaBahn for sharing their knowledge and giving our students a valuable glimpse into the world of nursing! ❤️ We love providing our students with real-world experiences that help them explore future career possibilities!

🎯🦌 Outdoor Ed Success! 🌲🦃 Congratulations to our Outdoor Ed students who completed and passed their Hunter Education course! 👏 We’re proud of all of our students for learning about outdoor safety, wildlife, conservation, and responsible participation in the outdoors. 📸 Here are a few of our students who completed the course! 🏆🦅 Our First Team Challenge! 🦅🏆 Our teams were ready to compete in our first team challenge of the year! The teams in each grade level who brought their packets back first earned a sweet reward—a Popsicle Party! 🍧🎉 Congratulations to our winners: 💛 6th Grade: Golden Eagles 💜 7th Grade: Stellar Eagles 🩷 8th Grade: Bald Eagles Way to show teamwork, school spirit, and a little friendly competition! We’re excited to see what these teams accomplish together this year! 🦅💪

🎉 Friday Fun + Team Building! 🦅 Our teams spent Advisory on Friday in whole-team meetings and kicked things off with some FUN team-building activities! From team dodgeball 🏐, and rock paper scissors challenges to passing beach balls, finding someone with a similar card, dancing 💃, and so much more, our students had a great time working together and building connections! At the middle school level, teams help create a smaller, supportive community where students are known, connected, and encouraged to succeed. 💙 We love seeing our Eagles laugh, compete, encourage one another, and strengthen our teams! ❤️🩶 Together, we’re making HMS the best it can be! 🦅
