Such a fun day with our rising 6th grade eagles!
Today they were greeted by cheerleaders, heard directly from current 6th grade student council leaders, and toured the building with our 8th grade student council. They even got in on a little basketball competition along the way! They wrapped it up with a treat from the counselor and a marvel coloring book!
We can’t wait to welcome this group back as HMS students next year! 🦅

The Middle School will be conducting state mandated BMI and Scoliosis screenings in the next few weeks for 6th and 8th graders only (not 7th). If you would prefer for your student to not participate in these screenings, please send a handwritten letter to Nurse Kelli.
The Madison County Health Coalition met with our 6th Grade Student Council members on Friday to build health awareness baskets for local medical offices! We always appreciate when our community partners invest time in our students and in wellness!

🤩 Congratulations to the Booted Eagles Team and Team Puryear! These awesome groups won the competition for the HMS Hygiene Drive and March Madness Fresh Faceoff!! On Friday we celebrated with a Popsicle Party and extra sunshine! ☀️ Go, Eagles!! 🦅

Shoutout to last year’s HMS Yearbook team, recognized at the April School Board meeting for an incredible accomplishment!
They placed 3rd internationally in Lifetouch’s Yearbook Showcase Contest—out of 17,000+ schools. Their book stood out for its design, writing, creativity, and was even called “highly journalistic.”
This marks the 5th time HMS has placed in the top 3.
Congrats to Case Pennington, Jagger Thompson, Abigal Cruz, Weston Molyneux, Zain Sconzert, Josh Payne, Trinity McCoy, and Julia Bradley—we’re proud of you! 👏📘
And a big thank you to Mr. Taylor for the time and effort he pours into these students.

Help us celebrate Kiran Garrison, our April HMS Student of the Month!
Kiran shows up every day ready to learn, puts in the work, and leads by example. He’s respectful, helpful, and brings a positive attitude wherever he goes—whether that’s supporting classmates or simply making others feel welcome.
Our staff consistently notice his strong character and the way he treats people. Kiran makes HMS a better place.
Well done, Kiran! 👏

Big shoutout to Ms. Mary Stout for some well-deserved recognition!
Mary was named our HMS Staff Member of the Month at the March School Board meeting in St. Paul—no surprise with the way she builds relationships, supports students, and shows up for her team every day.
She was also honored as an Outstanding Educator at the Northwest Arkansas Naturals game on April 7, recognized on the field alongside others from across the region.
Proud of you, Mary and thankful you're a part of our HMS team!

We wrapped up our March Hygiene Challenge with four student winners! 🎉
They earned it by donating hygiene products to help others and their names were drawn in our weekly drawings. Thank you for making a difference at HMS!
Colby Smith, Christopher Williams, Jayden Rivas, and Dezy Webber!

April is Autism Awareness Month 💙
We’re grateful to the Huntsville High School Transition class for the shirts and for helping us show our support!

Our HMS History Club took learning beyond the classroom on Monday with a field trip to the Military Museum at Drake Field! 🇺🇸✈️
Students explored artifacts, stories, and history up close, bringing their learning to life in a powerful way.
We love seeing their curiosity and enthusiasm for history in action—what a great experience for our students! 👏

Our Outdoor Education students have been putting in serious work in Hunter Education! 🎯🌲 Many students have successfully passed the course and earned their certification cards.
We’re proud of their effort, responsibility, and commitment to learning important safety skills in the outdoors. Way to go, students! 👏🐾

Hard work is paying off in Mrs. Kirk’s social studies classes! 🎉📚 These students have been working hard and have met their proficiency goal by strengthening their ability to cite evidence from text within their social studies learning.
Their dedication to digging deeper and supporting their thinking is paying off——focused, determined, and getting the job done! 💪📖 We’re proud of their growth and effort. Way to go, Mrs. Kirk and students! 👏

Mrs. Cotton’s science classes are giving us something to celebrate! 🎉🔬 We’re so proud of the hard work and determination these students have shown in reaching their proficiency goals.

Lights, camera, learning! 🎬✨
Our HMS students rolled out the red carpet at the EAST Conference and brought their movie-themed projects to life! Their creativity, innovation, and hard work were on full display.
We are so proud of the way they represented our school—true stars on and off the carpet! 🌟🍿

A couple of weeks ago, our students took time to focus on something just as important as academics—behavior and decision-making.
While students at HMS work hard every day on their learning, we also make it a priority to teach skills that help them succeed in life. Our school counselor stepped in to lead a lesson on impulse control, giving students tools to make positive choices both in and out of the classroom.
We appreciate the impact our team has in helping shape well-rounded students!

Club Time is so SWEET! Students in the Cookie Club got to bake cookies and the Little Free Pantry Club restocked the HMS pantry with treats last Friday! We sure enjoyed the sunshine! ☀️

📣Shoutout to this Team for working hard and putting in the effort to FILL their tub full of hygiene products for our HMS Hygiene Drive! Keep up the awesomeness and keep bringing those hygiene items!!

🎣 First Fish Alert!
Several of our students recently caught their very first fish in Outdoor Ed, and the smiles say it all! We love seeing students try new things, build confidence, and enjoy learning outside the classroom.
Way to go, anglers! 🐟👏
