🌟 Staff Spotlight: Misti Comer 🌟
Last Tuesday, our School Board recognized Misti Comer!
Mrs. Comer steps up wherever she’s needed — supporting teachers, helping students succeed, starting Junior FFA, coordinating the 6th grade field trip, and serving our community. She is dependable, caring, and always willing to go above and beyond.
We are so grateful for all she does. Congratulations, Mrs. Comer! 💙

It's National School Counseling Week and we are so grateful for Mrs. Brown! 🎉💕
Thanks for all you do!

6th grade Student Council members partnered last week with the Madison County Health Coalition to create a paper heart garland! Glued on the paper hearts, are facts about the effects of tobacco and nicotine usage. Did you know, that tobacco and nicotine damages the heart, brain, and lungs? We are so proud of these student leaders for supporting a tobacco-free and nicotine-free community! 🫀

🦅 Clubs in Action at HMS! 🦅
Last Friday, our students jumped into Clubs Day and showed just how much talent, curiosity, and heart our Eagles have! From junior FFA, coding, crochet, digital escape rooms, music, dance, podcasts, Heads Up, 7-Up, Connect Four, and more, clubs give students opportunities to explore interests and build connections.
Students also spent time restocking and reorganizing the Little Free Pantry at the bottom of the HMS Hill—adding items like baby formula, mac-n-cheese, and other essentials thanks to generous donations! Seeing students give their time to support our community is something to be proud of. 💙
Go, Eagles! 🦅

🎯 Right on Target! 🎯
Bullseye alert! 🎯👏 Shout-out to Simon Liancung for hitting the mark in Outdoor Education—check out that perfect shot!
We’re also proud of Eli Rogers, Levi Rogers, and Landon Tuck, who competed in an archery competition yesterday. Their focus, dedication, and hard work show what HMS students can achieve when they aim high and have fun doing it! 🏹🔥

🚨 Learning Beyond the Classroom 🚨
Shout-out to 8th graders Jadiel Salas and Phillip Springston in Coach Jessica LaBahn’s EAST class! 👏 They’re partnering with our city’s fire department to map fire hydrants outside city limits—helping improve access to water refills during fires.
This is powerful, hands-on learning that serves our community. Proud of these students and the meaningful work they’re doing! 🔥🧭

🔬 Science Success at HMS! 🔬
Some of our 6th and 7th grade scientists are giving us big reasons to celebrate! 🎉 Across different science standards, these students met their proficiency goals through curiosity, effort, and hard work. Huntsville Middle School might just be growing the next generation of great scientists! 🧪🧠👏
Congrats to Coach Williams' 6th period classes and Mrs. Cottons 1st, 4th, 6th, & 7th period classes! Keep up the hard work!

A huge THANK YOU to Lillian Samuels and Black Hills Energy for their donations of fidgets, hygiene products, gloves, laundry sanitizer, school supplies, and several other needed items!! These items will be utilized to support our scholars in many different ways! Thank you for supporting our Huntsville Middle School Eagles! 🦅

The Little Free Pantry at the bottom of the HMS Hill got some much needed restoration today! Mrs. Brown and Mr. Henry took a group of student leaders to paint the exposed wood and restock the available pantry items!
If the Little Free Pantry is full, food donations can be dropped off at the front office at HMS. Our counselor and student leaders will continue to check the pantry and restock with donated items. Thank you!

☀️🎉 🎄Smiles all around thanks to our Sunshine & Staff Morale Team!
They brightened the day by popping into classrooms and letting staff punch cups to reveal fun surprise prizes. We’re so grateful for our HMS team that brings joy, laughter, and positivity to our school every day!

🎄❤️ Our staff took time to celebrate the season with a holiday potluck and a wonderful lunch together. We are so grateful for this hardworking team that gives so much every day to support and inspire our students!

Holiday magic at HMS! 🎅🎄
Students showed off their most Christmasy outfits while Santa, Mrs. Claus, Betty the Elf, the Grinch, and friends helped make today full of fun and holiday cheer.

..

🎄🎅 Day 11 of our 12 Days of Christmas was Holly Jolly Hat Day, and the cuteness was off the charts! From Santa hats and antlers to elf hats and everything in between, our students and staff brought ALL the holiday cheer.
Our elf also drew a winner from the “Most Fun Teacher” box—congrats to Mr. Henry! 🎉✨

Today we recognized several classes for meeting a proficiency group goal in ELA.
👏 Mrs. Melissa Watkins’ 4th, 5th, and 8th period classes met the goal on determining how a theme is developed over the course of a text.
👏 Mr. Taylor’s 6th and 8th period classes met the goal on comparing and contrasting how an individual idea is portrayed in written text and multimedia.
While not every class is pictured, all were celebrated today—great work, students and teachers! 🎉
