📚 Great things are happening in Mrs. Wylie’s 8th Grade math class! Yesterday, students were hard at work reviewing equations and preparing for their exam today. Their focus and determination show that practice really does make perfect! 💪✨ #MathSuccess #KeepUpTheGreatWork #PracticeMakesPerfect

🍧 Sweet rewards for hard work! 🎉
Our students who met their 1st quarter AR goal — and maybe a teacher or two 😉 — enjoyed snow cones during lunch yesterday to celebrate their reading success! 📚🙌
Big thanks to our new HMS PTSO for helping make this special treat happen, and to Mrs. Bolinger for coordinating it all! 💙 #HMSProud #ReadingRocks

🎣 Here, fishy fishy fishy! Our Outdoor Ed classes have spent time this fall learning fishing techniques and enjoying the great outdoors. What a fun way to learn and connect with nature! 🌿🐟

🎯 Our Outdoor Ed classes are hitting the mark—literally! Students got hands-on experience learning the basics of archery this week. We love seeing our kids try new things and build skills beyond the classroom! 🏹

Last week, our School Counselor visited all Social Studies classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades! Mrs. Brown taught a guidance lesson on the Executive Functioning Skill: Response Inhibition. Students learned about impulse control and how this skill takes practice!

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Kim Stout! 🌟
Our school simply wouldn’t run as smoothly without her! Mrs. Kim goes above and beyond every single day—making sure everyone has what they need, jumping in wherever help is needed, and always doing it all with a smile. 💛
She was recognized at the school board meeting last night for her incredible dedication to our students and staff—and we couldn’t be more proud! 💙
Thank you, Mrs. Kim, for everything you do to keep HMS running strong! #TeamHMS #StaffSpotlight

📖 Miss Parker’s 6th grade ELA class is diving into the elements of fiction! Today, they explored different types of conflict—like internal vs. external—and discussed how these struggles drive a story forward. Great conversations and learning happening in the classroom! 🙌

👀 In Mrs. Watkins’ 8th grade ELA class, students tackled the essential question: “How can appearances be deceiving?” Using a Venn diagram, they compared The Worst Roommate Ever and The Landlady to uncover surprising similarities and differences. Thoughtful discussions filled the room! ✨

**“Update on our 6th grade Math project! 🎁📏 Thanks to the generosity of the Huntsville Masonic Temple, our students not only calculated surface area but also wrapped the toys themselves to be donated to kids in our community. ✂️🎄
This project has been such a special way to combine learning with giving back, and we’re proud of the heart our school shows in serving others. 💙 A huge thank you to Mr. Foster for having the vision to make this happen! He also donated wrapping supplies! He's truly making great contributions to our community!🦅✨”**

Some of our Outdoor Ed and 6th grade science students had a blast last Thursday exploring the Arkansas Game and Fish mobile aquarium! 🐟🌊 This traveling exhibit gave them an up-close look at fish and aquatic habitats found right here in Arkansas. Hands-on learning made for such a fun and memorable day! Thanks Mr. Henry for setting this event up!

Spirit Week is in full swing! 🎉 Today was Duo Day and our students (and staff!) had a blast showing off their best pairings. From dynamic duos to creative combos, the halls were full of school spirit and fun! 💙🤍 #HomecomingWeek #DuoDay #SchoolSpirit

Our School Counselor, Mrs. Brown, joined all 7th grade Science classes to teach a guidance lesson on Emotional Regulation and Utilizing Coping Skills! Students learned about the Feelings Thermometer, brain development, and mental wellness. After the lesson, students played Coping Skills BINGO and won fun prizes!

Our 7th grade Honors Science students are diving into natural hazards! 🌪️🌊 They explored weather stations and how scientists use data to predict hurricanes. Impressive work from this group of future problem-solvers!

💙 Shout out to our amazing middle school counselor, Mrs. Brown, who led a guidance lesson today in Career Development classes on coping skills! 🧠✨
Students were engaged, had fun, and even got some prizes along the way. 🎉 We love seeing our kids ready to share and practice positive strategies for handling challenges and Conquering The Hill! 🦅

🎁 A huge THANK YOU to the Huntsville Masonic Temple for donating over 130 toys to our 6th grade Math team! 🙌
Our students will use the toys for a hands-on Surface Area project—measuring each item and calculating how much wrapping paper it would take to wrap them. 📏✂️📦
The best part? After the math project, the toys will be donated to kids in our community. 💙
We love seeing learning and giving back come together, and we’ll be sharing updates as this amazing project unfolds! 🦅✨

On Friday, Mr. Taylor’s Computer Aided Design/Architecture students had the amazing opportunity to tour the historic Faubus House in Huntsville, guided by the E. Fay Jones Conservancy. 🏡✨
Designed in 1967 by world-renowned architect Fay Jones for former Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus, this masterpiece is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home is a stunning example of Modern Organic architecture—blending seamlessly with the land, featuring local fieldstone, floor-to-ceiling glass, and even a dramatic catwalk cantilevered over the bluff.
What an inspiring way to connect classroom learning to real-world design! 👏
